Noninvasive Treatment Options in Los Angeles

If you are interested in peels, lasers, Botox®, fillers, or other skin resurfacing options in the Los Angeles area, call our office. There are now so many options for treating the skin that almost any issue can be addressed with cosmetic procedures. Many of these options are noninvasive and have very little downtime. Dr Yoho’s centers do more than perform surgery. Less invasive treatments are also performed here. Many people can take advantage of these options in addition to, or even instead of surgery. Injectables, peels, topical creams, and other options can address many common skin issues.

In fact, there are so many options that it can be confusing even to try to understand what different treatments are available. We will outline a few types of treatments here for you to refer to. Before you decide on the right series of procedures, use the time of your free consultation to make sure that you are selecting the best option. Facial procedures vary widely in cost, aggressiveness, downtime, recovery, and levels of discomfort. We can address all of these issues here at our Palmdale consulting office. In the meantime, here is some basic information on cosmetic skin treatments.

Essentially, all facial procedures are designed to address skin tightness, texture, and/or color. People want smooth skin, with even texture and skin tone. When someone comes in for a facial procedure, one or all of these issues can be addressed. Treatments range from mild to aggressive.

Topical creams, such as Retin-A®, glycolic acid creams, or Obagi®, are used at home over longer time periods. These creams are some of the most low-cost treatments available, and can be used indefinitely. Irritation of the skin is usually mild and temporary. They help to reduce fine lines and breakouts. Creams don’t usually produce dramatic results, but continued use can be an excellent long-term preventative for wrinkles and acne.

Laser, light, and radiofrequency treatments of various types can be used to address issues that vary from scars to wrinkles and skin redness. These treatments are more costly than topicals and some peels, but often are the least invasive. Many treatments involve no downtime, and little to no discomfort. Depending on the treatment, results of individual sessions can be very minimal, but repeated sessions gradually produce more dramatic effects. Maintenance is done by following up with less frequent repetitions of the laser treatment, or by using a topical at-home treatment such as Retin-A® and daily use of sunscreen. The effectiveness of these treatments is very dependent on the technique of the person administering the treatment.

Injectables are used to treat wrinkles and hollowness in the face. Botox® Cosmetic works to paralyze small muscles under the skin. This will smooth out the face, and is most effective on forehead wrinkles. Other injectables are fillers, used to plump up creases.

There is another large category of facial treatments: peels. These can be done with chemicals or lasers, and can be light and painless to deep peels, requiring recovery time and some discomfort. All address the main issues of texture, tone, or tightness, but different peels address different issues and to different degrees.

Finally, surgery is an option when more aggressive facial procedures are needed. Surgery is still the only way to address excess hanging skin below the chin and around the neck area. Other surgical options include implants in the cheeks or chin to help restore fullness, eyelid surgery to tighten and shrink skin around the eyes, or brow lifts.

All of the facial cosmetic treatment options work well for certain skin types and conditions. You will need a consultation in order to make a fully informed decision. If you are in the Los Angeles, Pasadena, Simi Valley, Antelope Valley, or other LA area communities, call us for a free consultation appointment so that we can address your needs.
