Los Angeles Breast Reduction | Liposuction Breast Reduction

Breast reduction surgery can be one of the most satisfying procedures for the patient. Many of our Los Angeles area patients have had back problems, restricted movement, and have been self-conscious for most of their lives because of their large breasts. When women undergo breast reduction surgery for these or other reasons, they must settle for extensive scarring. This scar is called an “anchor scar” due to its telltale shape. The incision goes around the nipple, down to the bottom of the breast, and then curves along the bottom of the breast.

While some women are willing to accept this scar, most are happy to learn that liposuction is an alternative. When liposuction is used, between 4 and 6 tiny incisions are made. These incisions are only 3-4 millimeters long, and are made to allow the liposuction wand (cannula) to pass through the skin. The breast volume can be reduced this way without the full surgery and subsequent scarring involved with full breast reduction. Even large volume reductions can often be performed using liposuction. Although not everyone who comes to Dr. Yoho’s consulting office in Palmdale, or to his surgical center in Pasadena, for breast reduction will be a liposuction candidate, most can take advantage of this option.

Breast reduction is one of the rare cosmetic procedures that is sometimes covered by insurance, because of the medical issues that can be caused by large breasts. In addition to the issues of back pain, body proportion and the need for support bras that cause many women discomfort and self-consciousness, there are other reasons that women come in for breast reduction. For example, women typically do not have exactly symmetrical breasts. But some women have noticeably uneven breast sizes, and want breast reduction without the large scar on one breast.

Dr. Yoho performs his liposuction with careful consideration of the breast shape. If patients want significant changes to the shape of their breasts, then full reduction surgery may be necessary, since liposuction can only guarantee a change in size, not shape. Also, some women have a large amount of breast tissue that is not fatty tissue, and therefore are not candidates for liposuction. But the less-invasive option is a big plus for many clients, especially since they can still opt for more extensive procedures later if they want to.

Dr. Yoho will be able to listen to your wishes and concerns, and will do a thorough examination during your free consultation.
